Social networking sites such as orkut, facebook, MySpace etc. are like a gold mine for internet marketing. These sites allow internet users to form groups on like friends or business networks. This makes the work easier for internet marketers because the users are already sorted in groups.
To use social networking sites effectively one must try and have a large group of friends which are highly targeted. Also try and welcome each member personally in your network. Post something interesting like a news or a exclusive event which will bring them to visit your network repeatedly. Keep a track when maximum number of targets are online. Contact the members regularly to keep the message alive.
Make sure that your profile provides a valid and updated links. Outdated or links appearing spam are hardly likely to get a customer back to you. Upload attractive photographs of your product in your profile this will entice them to check out your product.
Sometimes social networking sites also are abused by internet marketing tools. People artificially increase their friends count and such. Such things can be reported as spam in most sites.
